Diary of a T.D.

This is a very general outline of what a Deputy might do on a Sitting Day.

09.30 am - Arrive in office. Check post and email and telephone messages and reads the papers.   checking email

10.30am - Go to Dáil Chamber for Order of Business.
   
11.00am - Meet with school children from constituency on tour of Leinster House   meeting scholl children
11.30am - Go back to office, have a quick cup of coffee and discuss the day again with their secretary.   coffee break
12.00pm - Attend Second Stage discussion in Dáil on new Bill

12.30pm - Have meeting in office with local environment group

1.00pm - Lunch – grab a sandwich and bowl of soup in the restaurant    
1.30pm - Go to meeting of Political Party   meeting
2.30pm - Attend Question Time in the Dáil and raise issues discussed with local environment group   dail session
3.30pm - Go back to office. Answer correspondence and email and telephone messages.

4.30pm - Attend a Committee meeting.   meeting
5.30pm - Back to Dáil to continue discussion of new Bill.   dail session
6.30pm - Have dinner with some Dáil colleagues    
7.30pm - Meet with local Neighbourhood Watch group who are on tour of Leinster House
   
8.00 p.m Back to Dail Chamber to participate in Matters on the Adjournment    
8.30pm - Go to office. Sort through papers for following day, sign correspondence   checking email
9.00pm - Leave office to go to meeting of local group    
10.30pm - Meet with some people afterwards who would like some issues raised.

11.30pm - Home at last. Have a chat with my partner and relax with a cup of tea. Write out some notes from meeting this evening.
   
12.00pm - Time to get some sleep so I can be ready for action again tomorrow.   asleep
