Diary of a Senator
This is a very general outline of what a Senator might do on
a Sitting Day.
| 09.30 am - Arrive in office.
Check post and email and telephone messages and reads the
papers. |

10.30am - Go to Seanad Chamber
for Order of Business. |
|
|
| 11.30am - Meet with university
students on tour of Leinster House |
|
 |
| 12.00am - Go back to office,
have a quick cup of coffee and discuss the day
ahead with the secretary. |
|
 |
12.30pm - Go to Seanad Chamber to participate
in statements on a Department's Report.
|
|
 |
1.00 pm - Have meeting in office with
Nurses Association.
|
|
 |
| 1.30pm - Lunch – grab a sandwich
and bowl of soup in the restaurant |
|
|
| 2.30pm - Go to meeting of Political
Party |
|
 |
| 3.30pm - Attend Private Members' Time
in the Seanad and raise issues discussed with local environment
group. |
|
 |
4.00pm - Go back to office. Answer correspondence
and email and telephone messages.
|
|
 |
| 4.30pm - Attend a Joint Committee meeting. |
|
 |
| 5.30pm - Back to Seanad to continue
discussion of new Bill. |
|
 |
| 6.30pm - Have dinner with some Seanad
colleagues |
|
|
7.30pm - Meet with local Neighbourhood
Watch group who are on tour of Leinster House
|
|
|
| 8.00pm Go to office. Sort through
papers for following day, sign correspondence. |
|
 |
| 9.00pm - Leave office to go to meeting
with interest group |
|
|
10.30pm - Meet with some people afterwards
who would like some issues raised.
|
|
 |
11.30pm - Home at last. Have a chat
with my partner and relax with a cup of tea.
Write out some notes from meeting this evening.
|
|
|
| 12.00pm - Time to get some sleep so
I can be ready for action again tomorrow. |
